Are you nervous that you have fallen victim to tooth decay? If so, our dentists, Drs. David G. Ogle, Samuel E. Schmitz, William R. Hart, & David Fickas, are happy to help you. There are many symptoms that tell that you might have a cavity, and we are happy to tell you all about them. Now, remember: If you have a cavity, the best thing you can do is call our office and schedule an appointment. You don’t want the decay to spread and compromise more of your tooth and smile. The symptoms to look out for include:
– A soft spot on your tooth enamel. Now, this will be hard for you to detect because you’ll need a special tool, but your dentist will usually identify the spot during your dental appointment. In addition to the soft spot, you might also see a hole in your tooth enamel.
– A toothache. It’s typical to have a toothache for several days when you have a cavity. A toothache will be constant and anything you do won’t relieve it, at least for too long. It might even make it tough to relax or sleep.
– Tooth sensitivity. You might experience tooth pain and sensitivity when you consume hot or cold foods and drinks or when you breathe in cold air.
